Jennifer brings a wealth of experience as a classroom science teacher, school administrator, and district-level leader. She played a pivotal role in launching the Freshman Campus of Vestavia Hills High School and has led efforts in creating systems of support for students and teachers alike—ranging from professional learning communities and instructional rounds to data-informed intervention schedules and multi-tiered supports. A National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent Science, Jennifer also holds a Master’s in Instructional Leadership from the University of Montevallo and a Bachelor’s in Comprehensive Science Education from UAB. She has presented at numerous national, state, and regional conferences, including ASCD Empower, MEGA, and multiple Alabama Science Teachers Association conferences. Her presentations blend practical strategies with an unwavering belief in the power of student-centered, inquiry-based instruction. Whether leading a keynote on transforming classroom culture through STEAM or guiding educators through actionable instructional strategies, Jennifer’s sessions are known for being both inspiring and immediately applicable. She remains deeply committed to building a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement in every educational setting she touches. |
Dr. Jeter has been exposed to numerous educational experiences throughout her career. She has worked in affluent to high-poverty schools; middle school, high school, and elementary schools over the years. She has been an Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, Superintendent of Schools, and now Assistant State Superintendent, where a few of her many duties that she oversees are charter schools, specialized treatment centers, compliance monitoring, school safety, and the liaison for the school board association. She considers herself a well-rounded instructional leader who believes in servant leadership and fairness for all. Autumm is presently very active within the state organizations for school and system leaders. Dr. Jeter completed the National Urban Superintendent’s Academy, completed the University of Alabama Superintendents Academy, and had the opportunity for a summer educational study at Stanford University in Stanford, California. She is a member of Samford University’s School of Education Advisory Board, the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention board member, an adjunct professor at The University of Alabama, and holds many other appointed roles. Some of her honors and community involvement (past and present include): Magic City (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, I See Me Literacy board member, former member of Junior League of Birmingham; Leukemia and Lymphoma Society awareness/contributor (Light the Night), former Girls Incorporated Jr. Board of Directors Member, and featured on the National United Negro College Fund (UNCF) an Evening of Stars television broadcast as a successful UNCF graduate. She was awarded the Best New Member Award for the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated 2023, Serves on the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated as an appointed officer, Samford University’s Notable Alumni from the College of Education, and the Community First SHERO Award in Birmingham, Alabama. Autumm is an active “silver” member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated (Chi Chapter, Fall of 1998) and was Miss Talladega College 2000-2001.
