Conference Overview

The science disciplines are strategically important for employment and for our economy.  The Alabama Science Teachers Association is providing leadership to disseminate research-informed best practices in teaching and learning for all levels of science teaching through the What Are They Thinking? Conference in Birmingham, AL, on February 16 - 17, 2016.  We are inviting all stakeholders to participate in this vitally important endeavor….teachers, researchers, educational administrators, higher education and the business community.  Partnerships are critical to ensure success for all of our students. 

The Exhibit Hall will be the hub of 2016 Conference  The McWane Center will house all of the exhibit and registration areas on the Third floor near the Special Events Center, with many sessions on the same floor or only one floor below.  The Special Events Center will also be the location for coffee breaks and socials, insuring high volumes of traffic for conversations, services and wares to be exchanged and showcased. This venue will provide a unique setting for Alabama Science Teachers Association as our organization provides the dissemination of pertinent information and newly developed products in support of addressing the requirements of the College and Career Ready Standards and in preparing communities for increasing the quality of life economically, educationally, and efficiently as science and science careers are such integral parts of our society.  Join this unique and cutting edge effort by lending your support for What Are They Thinking? Conference.

I.                ASTA Awards Sponsor
Awards to be presented are:       

Teacher of Promise (3 years or less)                             $500.00
                                Outstanding Elementary Science Teacher              $1000.00
                                Outstanding Middle School Science Teacher        $1000.00
                                Outstanding High School Science Teacher               $1000.00

Your company or organization can sponsor one or all of these teacher awards.  With the sponsorship of one or more awards, you will also receive:
·       Opportunity for promotional materials to be given out at the General Session venue
·       Opportunity for greetings from a company representative at the Awards ceremony

Each booth will consist of a draped table, wastebasket and two chairs.  There will be no back drape or additional carpet.
